Q - "What information should I submit to smt to receive a rapid quotation?"

A - In short, the more detailed the data supplied, the faster and more competitively we can quote. We firmly abide by the "if in doubt - ask" principle, so ideally we would receive -

1. Full RS274x Gerber data comprising every 'layer' required to manufacture and supply the PCB with descriptive exported 'read me' file. If no silkscreen identification is required to the finished PCB, please issue a .pdf file (or similar) depicting the component locations, orientations, and relevant assembly notes.

2. A comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) itemising: -

Component description (to include rating value & tolerance where applicable)
Component location to the PCB
Free issue items (if and where applicable)
Component supplier (preferred or stipulated)
Suitable alternatives (if and where applicable)
Farnell and / or RS part numbers will ensure accurate component identification for cross referral which will aid fast and efficient quoting

3. Any other construction information i.e. details of any mechanical assembly, fabrication information for enclosures, wiring or looming, artwork, programming and testing requirements.
